Manchester Organics
Manchester Organics was founded in 1996 as a small but fast growing chemical company based in Cheshire. Their specialities include laboratory scale multi-step synthesis of a wide variety of organic compounds usually ranging from 100mg to multi-kg. With a skilled team of chemists working in numerous specialized areas, the facilities were outgrown and a move of premises took place in 2002 allowing the opportunity for expansion.
With the desire to attract more custom, a company brochure and web site were commissioned as a means of showing off the purpose built facility and some of the highly sophisticated equipment installed within the chemical and analytical laboratories.
Having worked on many lab based projects with Saudi ARAMCO, Adrian Waine was selected as the photographer who could mix people, light and equipment and produce a set of photographs which would help Manchester Organics to convey their investment in quality staff and equipment, also adding a sense of drama to their presentation materials.
Eight years on, with a considerable increase in manpower, the doors at Manchester Organics were positively bulging. Bigger and better premises were sought with first rate capabilities and the opportunity to manufacture a greater number of compounds to an increasing demand. With the growing client base determining production, it was time to highlight some details in Manchester Organics’ ever thickening portfolio.
Enter the photographer ! Now facing a much bigger, more complex set of laboratories, the brief was to demonstrate the significantly enhanced resources, accompanied by the PhD level workforce with an illustration of works in process. Through the marketing process, the pharmaceutical and fine chemical industries would be the target, so a mixture of scales and capabilities were to be the main areas for representation. So with white coats fresh off the ironing board, Adrian set to work in building and capturing the kind of photographs which provoke attention and subsequently work towards winning business.
Now that Manchester Organics are a regular exhibitor at overseas trade shows, the projected image is of major importance. High flying photographs help to draw interest and generate an audience. Printed literature should reiterate ability, skills and a serious ‘Can Do’ attitude. Good photographs will aid towards achieving this.
